Entry Form and Photo Submission:
There are 2 ways to submit your entry form and photo(s):
Photo Submission Deadline:

All entries must be submitted or postmarked by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 29, 2012.

The winner will be notified on or before March 23, 2012.
Photo Guidelines:
- It is preferred that the image is composed vertically.
- A limit of 5 photos total can be submitted per entrant.
- If photo is emailed, please send a low resolution (1 MB or lower) file. This will ensure that we receive the file.
- The Photo Contest Winner will need to email or mail a high resolution file of the winning photo. (Which is no less than 300 pixels per inch at a size of 8" x 10".)
- If you chose to mail in your entry form and photo(s), a CD with the photo(s) will need to be provided.
- Digital photographs should be taken with a camera rated at 3 mega-pixels or more.
- Digital image scans made from a 35mm slide must be made from the original negative or slide (no scans of color prints). The scan should be at high resolution (no less than 300 pixels per inch at a size of 8” x 10”).
- Acceptable file formats are: tiff, .eps, or .jpg saved at the highest quality level.
- Best image results are if the image is saved in the raw format (if that option is available), otherwise the file should be saved in .jpg with maximum image quality.
- Entrants warrant that the photographs: (1) are original and do not infringe on any copyright, (2) do not invade anyone’s privacy, (3) do not libel or slander anyone, (4) have not been published previously, (5) are not enhanced or modified, whether digitally or otherwise. Any photograph in violation of these rules will be disqualified.
- If the photograph contains a readily identifiable person as a subject, the photographer must submit the name, address, and phone number of each person who is readily identifiable in the picture. This information will be used only to contact the subject if the photograph is selected for online publication. The photo subject will be required to execute a Photo Release and Waiver of Liability or the photograph will be disqualified. The winner grants HickoryTech the right to publish the winning image in any medium. Winners otherwise will retain all rights to their photographs.
Judging & Winning Prize:

Judging: A committee designated by the Directory Coordinator will select the winning photograph. The final determination of whether or not an image is suitable for print will be determined by the designer selected to create the cover.

Prize: The winner of the contest will receive $250 cash. No cash alternative is available. All applicable taxes, whether federal or state, local or otherwise, are solely the winner’s responsibility.
Other Official Rules:

Entrants may be either amateur or professional photographers. Entrants under 18 years of age must submit a release from a parent or guardian. You do not have to be a HickoryTech customer to enter photo contest.

By entering the contest, each entrant grants HickoryTech the right to use and publish the entrant's name, photo, photo description, along with any other information in the winning entry, both electronically (for example, on the Internet) and in print, in connection with the contest at any time. The winner acknowledges and agrees to the use by HickoryTech, without additional compensation, of his or her name, likeness, photo, and photo title and description for purposes of advertising, trade, and promotion, except to the extent prohibited by law.

You shall indemnify and hold harmless HickoryTech, its subsidiaries and affiliated entities, and each of their directors, officers, employees, attorneys, agents, and representatives from any damage, injury, expense, cost, death, loss, claim, action, demand, or other liability (including attorney’s fees) that may arise in connection with the use of the photo.
